Hello! - Here's A Background Biography which I hope is of interest - and of course - if you'd like to book me to perform - Please Contact Me - I'd Be Delighted!

I’m a Licentiate of The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art with 4 Honours Medals in Speech/Acting - and a multi award-winning, much-published, and frequently radio-broadcast Comedy, Romantic and Children’s Poet, Comedy, Romantic and Children’s Songwriter - and Comedy Monologue-writer – Ventriloquist and Puppeteer.

I’m the Winner of The Golden Grove/Forward Poetry Prize, Prize-Winner of The PIM Poetry Award, Finalist of The National Poetry Slam, Highly-Commended Poet of The Portico Poetry Prize and The Serendipity Poetry Award, among others, and my poems are published in 48 Poetry Anthologies, as 16 Solo Poetry Collections and as 3 Audio Poetry Books, to date. Over 100 of my Songs and Piano/Keyboard Instrumentals for Ballet and Dance are also published, to date.

I was anointed BBC Radio’s ‘Poetry Expert’ for their ‘Functional Poetry Challenge Initiative’- and have frequently performed my poetry live on: BBC Radio Solent, BBC 3 Counties, BBC Southern Counties, on Delta FM - and Radio Lion.  My live poetry and ventriloquism performances at Radio Lion were also recorded - and are frequently re-broadcast. 

I’ve given live poetry readings at a variety of Comedy, Poetry & Literary Festivals including:  The Festival of Chichester, The Havant Literary Festival (as Comedy Support Act to Mike Harding), The Beer & Oyster Festival, at Port Solent, at The Elvetham Country Estate, at The Lanesborough Hotel, Park Lane, London, Hyde Park Corner, London, The Oakwood Theatre, Chichester, G-Live (Guildford) The Ripley Festival, The Christmas Festival, East Hill House, Milkwood House, Greenbanks, The Wheelwrights, The White Hart at Harting, O’Connors, The Secret Garden - and at Festivals Theatres, Clubs, Cafes, Pubs, Galleries, Bookshops - on the London Fringe Theatre Circuit - at venues in the South, the South East and South West of England - and perform my poems, songs, puppetry, music and monologues at a wide variety of venues - from Theatres to Stately Homes to Street Theatre Events - and for Members of The House of Lords.  

Currently, I perform my Comedy Poetry, Comedy Monologues & Comedy Song Performances at my very own little Comedy Venue.. These take place as both Comedy Matinees & Comedy Nights - occasionally with specially invited poets/musicians. 

 I’ve created & performed Comedy Cabaret Sketches/Skits, Audio-Visual Scripts, Ventriloquist Duologues and Puppet Scripts – and am the Founder and Resident Trainer of ‘The Ventriloquist Club of Great Britain’ - since the early 1980s. 

I’m also a much-published Comedy Monologues Writer & Comedy Speech-Writer for Performers & Public Speakers (Publication Title: ‘ACT! Alone: Scene-Stealing Comedy Monologues & Verse for Performers & Speakers’ Pubd. GAPP).  

I was commissioned by The Art Institute to create a 250,000 word Art Tutorial Course - Publication Title: ‘Master The Art’ Published by The Art Institute in 1998. 

I’m a former Magazine Columnist/Newspaper Columnist of ‘The Observer Series of Newspapers’ - and - a former Copy Editor with ‘The Financial Times (FinTech Publications)’. 

I’m the Founder & Editor of twp internationally well-respected illustrated and printed monthly Poetry Magazines: ‘The Poetry Box Magazine’ - and the Founder & Editor of: ‘The Bucks Mills Poetry Magazine’.

I’ve added Workshops to my Comedy writing and performing, conducting my own, highly popular & widely respected ‘Merlynda’s Comedy Poetry & Song Workshops’ and ‘Merlynda’s Comedy  Ventriloquism Workshops’ at Comedy, Poetry and Literary Festivals – and - for small Groups and Organisations. 

I’ve created a brand new, unique: ‘Laughter Is Medicine’ Therapy For Adults - which I also conduct for individuals and groups.
